Dandelion: a first-of-its-kind Sexual and Reproductive Health mobile clinic
Dandelion is dedicated to improving access to comprehensive Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) as well as reliable information to girls and women of reproductive age residing in the ger areas of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Dandelion was selected as one of the ten Joint Innovation Challenge winners in 2022 for advancement to empower women and girls worldwide.
In cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and the International Trade Centre (ITC), UNFPA provided funding for social enterprises led or co-led by women providing innovative solutions in the areas of maternal health, sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence.
With funding and support from UNFPA and the co-organisers, Dandelion successfully piloted its first mobile clinic in partnership with Iim BolGoy, a local NGO that advocates for respectful maternity care in Mongolia and Clinica, the first local telemedicine service provider in the 31st and 43rd khoroos of Songinokhairkhan district in the winter-spring period of 2023.
This partnership has allowed Dandelion to bring essential SRH services directly to the alleys of ger areas of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, ensuring that women and girls receive the care, information, and support they need and deserve. By merging the expertise of Iim BolGoy, Clinica, and GerHub, Dandelion is bringing transformative healthcare solutions and driving positive change in the ger areas of Ulaanbaatar.
